Privacy Policy for Ticker Matrix
Effective date: [INSERT DATE]
This Privacy Policy describes how Ticker Matrix ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"), published by [DEVELOPER/COMPANY NAME], handles information when you use the App. We've designed Ticker Matrix to do as little with your data as possible, and this policy explains exactly what that means.
Summary
- We do not collect, store, or share any personal data on our servers.
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not show advertisements.
- We do not sell or rent data to third parties — we have none to sell.
- Your watchlists and preferences stay on your device and, for Pro users signed into iCloud, in your personal iCloud account.
- The App fetches market data from Yahoo Finance, which involves network requests handled by Yahoo (see below).
Information We Collect
Ticker Matrix does not collect personal information. We do not have user accounts, we do not run analytics, and we do not log usage on our own servers. We have no ability to identify you as an individual user of the App.
Data Stored on Your Device
The App stores your watchlists, ticker preferences, layout choices, and other settings locally on your device. For users on the free version of the App, this data remains only on your device and is not transmitted anywhere. You can remove this data at any time by deleting the App.
iCloud Sync (Pro Users)
If you purchase the Pro plan and are signed in to iCloud on your device with iCloud Drive enabled, the App will automatically store your watchlists and app settings in your personal iCloud account so they can be kept in sync across your Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID. iCloud sync is included as part of the Pro plan and does not require any additional setup.
- Your iCloud data belongs to you and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy.
- We do not have access to the contents of your iCloud account, and we cannot read, modify, or recover your synced data.
- iCloud sync requires that you are signed in to iCloud at the operating-system level. If you are not signed in to iCloud, or if iCloud Drive is disabled for the App in your device settings, sync simply will not occur and your data will remain only on the device.
- You can stop the App from using iCloud at any time by turning off iCloud Drive for Ticker Matrix in your device's iCloud settings. Any data already stored in your iCloud account remains there until you remove it through those same settings.
For more information on how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Yahoo Finance Market Data
To show stock quotes, charts, and related market information, the App requests data from Yahoo Finance. When your device makes these requests:
- The App sends only the ticker symbols and data fields needed to display the information you've asked to see.
- The App does not send your name, email, device identifiers, or any other personal account information to Yahoo Finance.
- As with any internet request, Yahoo's servers may automatically receive standard network information such as your IP address and basic device/user-agent information. Yahoo's handling of that information is governed by Yahoo's own privacy policy.
We do not control Yahoo Finance and are not responsible for how Yahoo processes the network requests it receives. If at any point Yahoo Finance becomes unavailable or its terms change, we may switch to a different market data provider, and we'll update this policy accordingly.
Third-Party Services
Other than the Yahoo Finance market data requests described above, the App does not communicate with third-party services. We do not embed advertising networks, analytics platforms, crash reporting services, attribution SDKs, or social media trackers in the App.
If you downloaded Ticker Matrix from the App Store, Apple may collect certain information about your installation and use of the App in accordance with Apple's own privacy policy. We do not receive any personally identifiable information from Apple.
Children's Privacy
Ticker Matrix is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the App does not collect personal information from anyone, this section is intended as a clarification rather than a separate practice.
Security
Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no central database of user information for us to protect. Data stored on your device is protected by your device's own security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, device encryption). Data synced through iCloud is protected by Apple's iCloud security, including end-to-end encryption where Apple offers it.
Your Choices
- Stop iCloud sync at any time by turning off iCloud Drive for Ticker Matrix in your device's iCloud settings.
- Delete the App to remove all data stored locally on that device.
- Remove iCloud data through your device's iCloud storage settings, which will clear any settings the App has saved to iCloud.
Users in the European Union and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK-GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, this section explains how your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK-GDPR") apply to your use of Ticker Matrix.
Because the App does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to us, [DEVELOPER/COMPANY NAME] does not act as a data controller or data processor of any personal data under the GDPR or UK-GDPR in connection with the App. We have no central database of users, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no account system. There is no personal data held by us against which you could exercise data subject rights such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or objection — because no such data exists on our side.
Where personal data is processed in connection with your use of the App, it is processed by third parties under their own terms, not by us:
- Apple Inc. and Apple Distribution International Limited act as controllers and/or processors for any data associated with your Apple ID, your App Store transactions (including the Pro one-time purchase), and any data you sync through iCloud. Their handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Yahoo (or its successor operator of Yahoo Finance) receives standard network information (such as IP address) when your device requests market data, and processes it under its own privacy policy.
If you have questions about the processing of your personal data by Apple or Yahoo, please contact those providers directly. If you have questions about this policy or our practices, you may contact us at the email address below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the EU/EEA, your national supervisory authority; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features that change how data is handled. When we do, we'll update the "Effective date" at the top and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after the new policy takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
